Cambodia inspired

This collection dates my time in Cambodia in 2010-2011, working as a judge on the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. It consists of Cambodian nature scenes and portraits.

Kep, La Véranda

During my time in Cambodia, I spent quite a few weekends in Kep, close to the Vietnam border. La véranda was a quiet resort in the jungle facing Rabbit Island where it was possible to leave behind the horrors of my case file from the Khmer Rouge time. Some of the paintings I did in Cambodia remain there and are decorating the bungalows.

Chenda, the entrepreneur

Chenda is a single mother raising her son by coping with several jobs while studying management. She took care of my house and cooked for me during all my time in Cambodia, always with her mobile phone in one hand. We had tons of laughter.

Cambodian scene

I painted this oil during my time in Phnom Penh. While working during the week at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal I explored the Cambodian country side during my free time. In order to best represent the bright colours of nature I diluted the oil more than usual almost like watercolours.
