Kosovo inspired
About half a year after retiring I relocated to Kosovo where I had worked shortly after the end of the war and where members of my tribe own a house near Prishtina. I started painting oils showing the grand mosque of Prishtina, Kosovar interiors, figures from the League of Prizren. This collection is growing as we speak, so stay tuned.
Normandy & Brittany inspired
The collection started when I was a judge in charge of juveniles in the Peninsula of Cotentin in Normandy. It continued as I moved to work on international crimes around the world and was going back whenever possible to my haven of peace there in front of the islands of Jersey and Guernsey and travelled to Brittany. The Collection includes oils and watercolours of Rouen, Sein Island, family and seaside scenes, gardens and bouquets.

Bouquets
My first painting ever was a bouquet inspired by a beautiful painting by Renoir. I love flowers and have very often painted bouquets, hence the interest of having this dedicated collection
Garden & nature
This collection brings together oils showing gardens, bouquets and other scenes. Some of these oils are part of the other collections.

Cambodia inspired
This collection dates my time in Cambodia in 2010-2011, working as a judge in the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. It consists of Cambodian nature scenes and portraits.
Watercolours
I started this collection after a former colleague and friend initiated me to travel sketches and watercolours during a trip to Australia. It grew overtime with family sceneries in Normandy and Holland.

During my many trips and stays abroad I observed people at work in shops, in the streets. I took numerous photos and recently decided to paint some of these scenes.

Oil portraits
My experience with portraits is recent and so far I only did sketches and watercolours portraits. I am very new to oil portraits. There won't be anything for sale any time soon but I open this collection to show what will hopefully be progress. I decided to start with auto-portrait so that no one gets offended. For that first auto-portrait I used the Milan art institute approach to portrait painting starting with "monster portrait", big brush shapes and progressively moving to more likeness. My auto-portrait is still very cartoony thought. More recently, I enrolled in Chris Fornataro's on line course and Atilla's portrait is the first I made using this method.

Recycling
During the summer of 2025, inspired by a visit to Dominique's atelier in Urville-Naqueville, where she creates wonderful sea creatures, Rizah and I started collecting driftwood and waste deposited by the tide, as well as second hand metal and leather, to create our own creatures. Our magic touch : necklaces and other costume jewellery brought back from my stay in Cambodia.
